"I recorded this EP a few weeks before the birth of my first child, whose imminent arrival had me thinking about life, birth, breath, creation, cycles, consciousness, etc. hence the title "Prana" being attached to this brief collection of four recordings. When we found out my wife was pregnant, I thought I would wind down my music making activities, self-centred and indulgent as creativity can be - qualities I imagined would not be conducive for the demands of raising a child. During the pregnancy we also relocated, moving from Durban to Johannesburg. With everything going on, I had resolved that guitar and music generally could take a back seat. But in those weeks before my beautiful daughter was born, I felt a physical compulsion to play music, guitar, orbaphone, sculpting sounds out of tape recordings... I suppose making music is the way my body processes big feelings. And never had I felt a bigger feeling than that which overwhelmed me in those final weeks before my child arrived. So here we have 4 songs born of my compulsion to play music and process what I experienced during that liminal time before fatherhood. If you take the time to listen, I hope you find some hope, joy and refuge in these songs, in what is otherwise a turbulent and confusing world."

Tepid Toad Records is utterly honored to welcome guitar virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist Duncan Park to the label. Me and Duncan have been talking about and planning this release for quite some time now, and I am so happy to finally be able to share it with everyone. This EP features 4 intricate and mesmerizing tracks which have been lovingly housed onto 10" lathe cut vinyl.
I hope you enjoy the EP as much as I do. I'll let the music speak for itself from here on out.
