Sahara Quartet - Sahara Quartet (LP)

The Sahara Quartet rides the line between “free” jazz and post bop, exploring composition and improvisation as defined by players like Ornette Coleman, Pharaoh Sanders, Steve Lacy, Dewey Redman, or Sonny Sharrock. The Quartet plays tunes written by members Jesse Ebaugh and Damien Valenzuela, defining a space that is musically modern primitive, at times outsider, with a toast to the traditional. 

Sahara Quartet formed out of a once monthly improvised music residency at Austin Texas' Sahara Lounge. The group began recording in the summer of 2024, and this album is a collection of tracks captured over three sessions.
